Why ILA?

The ILA Difference
At ILA, we provide expert, compassionate care for students with severe challenging behaviors: persistent and disruptive actions that interfere with learning, social engagement, or daily functioning. These behaviors often require specialized support that traditional school settings may not be equipped to provide.
Our evidence-based approach is built on Practical Functional Assessment (PFA) and Skill-Based Treatment (SBT), grounded in the work of Dr. Greg Hanley. We focus on creating Happy, Relaxed, and Engaged (HRE) learners by identifying the root causes of behavior and teaching meaningful, functional skills.
A World of Support – Every classroom has an RBT for each child, a special education teacher, and a BCBA to oversee instruction. Learn More.

Our flexible classrooms, dedicated team of experts, and individualized plans ensure students become happy, engaged learners and grow academically, socially, and behaviorally.
Key Areas of Focus Include:
Functional Communication – Teaching students to express needs appropriately
Tolerance to Delays/Denials – Building coping skills for frustration
Contextually Appropriate Behavior (CAB) – Promoting socially acceptable actions
Academic Progress – Aligning with IEP goals for measurable success
Social-Emotional Growth – Developing emotional regulation and social skills
Life Skills – Encouraging independence through daily living skills
Social Integration – Preparing students for transition to less restrictive environments
