Program Overview

Preparing Students for Long-term Success

We provide a personalized educational experience for students in grades Pre-K through Transition (ages 3–21). Our dedicated team of certified behavior analysts, registered behavior technicians, and special education teachers focuses on fostering independence through meaningful, real-world learning experiences tailored to each student’s unique needs.

Our goal is to support students in progressing toward a less restrictive educational environment, whenever possible, preparing them for long-term success in and out of the classroom.

Key Areas of Growth

Academic Progress Aligned with IEP Objectives

At ILA, every student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) drives their learning journey. Our customized academic plans ensure consistent progress in core subjects such as math, reading, and writing. Using a data-driven approach, we track student outcomes and continuously adjust instructional strategies to help students achieve measurable academic gains.

Functional Life Skills for Daily Independence

Our life skills curriculum is designed to promote independence and real-world readiness. Students gain hands-on experience with daily living tasks such as hygiene, personal care, meal preparation, and organization—skills that are critical for leading more independent lives outside of the classroom.

Behavior Management and Self-Regulation

Using evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies, we support students in developing self-regulation and improved behavior management. Our team teaches effective coping and regulation techniques that help students stay engaged, focused, and ready to learn across all educational settings.

Re-Integration and Least Restrictive Environment
We believe in fostering independence that allows students to thrive in their communities. Our program prioritizes re-integration by teaching the skills necessary for students to transition to less restrictive settings when ready, adhering to the principle of LRE and empowering them for the next steps in their education.

Core Program Focus

An ILA RBT works with a student to reduce challenging
Challenging Behavior Reduction

We specialize in reducing challenging behaviors by using the Practical Functional Assessment (PFA) and Skill-Based Treatment (SBT) model developed by Hanley (2014). Our applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy aims to decrease the frequency, intensity, and duration of problem behaviors, promoting safer and more productive learning environments.

Skill Development for Communication, Independence, and Learning

Once behavioral barriers are addressed, our ABA programs focus on building core skills in communication, cooperation, and tolerance. We teach functional living skills using Essential for Living (McGreevy, 2008) and support language and cognitive development through the PEAK Relational Training System (Dixon, 2016). These interventions are customized to meet the unique needs of each learner.

Caregiver Training and Involvement

Parent and caregiver involvement is key to lasting success. We offer ongoing caregiver training using the Balance Parent Training curriculum (Ruppel et al., 2021). Families learn practical behavior management techniques and how to support skill generalization in everyday life.

Expert ABA Staff and Ongoing Professional Development

Our team of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) receive continuous professional development. With a focus on the latest research in applied behavior analysis, we ensure high-quality, ethical, and effective ABA interventions tailored to each individual’s needs.
